Born Patricia
Anne Stratigias, Trish Stratus
was raised in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada and grew
up with aspirations to become a doctor. These aspirations
led to her being pre-med student at York University in
Toronto, Ontario. Her focus was biology and kinesiology
(the study of the anatomy and mechanics in human movement),
which came to an abrupt end when the school went on strike
in 1997. During her time off of school, she worked in
a gym and was approached to do fitness modeling. She quickly
got noticed for her risqué photo shoots, predominately
in MuscleMag International...
During her time as a Fitness Model, she also hosted Live
Audio Wrestling on Toronto Sports Radio, The FAN 590.
In late 1999, Patricia was signed to a WWF contract, and
began to train at Sully's Gym, where she was trained by
Ron Hutchinson.
She made her WWF debut on March 19, 2000, on WWF Sunday
Night Heat. She "scouted" wrestlers Test and Albert during
their matches. The next night--on WWF RAW, she declared
them her new Tag-Team, named "T & A." As their manager,
Test--real name Andrew Martin and Prince Albert picked
up a victory at WrestleMania XVI (April 2, 2000), where
they defeated Al Snow and Steve Blackman. A feud between
T&A and Dudley Boyz the followed. The feud escalated at
Backlash 2000... T & A (Test and Albert) were able to
defeat The Dudley Boyz; however, she payed the price,
when Bubba Ray Dudley power bombed her through a wooden
table.
Test and Albert feuded with the Hardy Boyz next, who had
Lita as their valet. This led to her competing in her
first match in the WWF, where she, Test and Prince Albert
defeated Lita and the Hardy Boyz. She pinned Lita after
Albert hit the Baldo Bomb on Lita so she could get the
win. A few weeks later, on the July 2, 2000 airing of
Sunday Night Heat, Test, Albert and Trish Stratus defeated
The Hardy Boyz and Lita in an elimination match. She and
Lita faced each other in numerous matches in the months
that followed, including the July 31, 2000 airing of WWF
RAW, where Lita and The Rock defeated Triple H and Trish
in the Main Event. She would also mix it up with other
WWE Divas throughout the year, including Jacqueline, Molly
Holly, and Ivory.
By
the beginning of 2001, "T&A" disbanded, and she began
an onscreen romance with WWF Chairman Vince McMahon. The
relationship angered Vince's daughter Stephanie McMahon,
which led to a feud between her and Trish. The feud escalated
on February 25, 2001, at the WWF's No Way Out Pay-Per-View,
where Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley defeated her due to a
run-in by William Regal. The next night on Raw, Stephanie
McMahon and William Regal took on Trish Stratus and Vince
McMahon in a Intergender Tag Team Match, which ended in
a no contest. The match was a set-up, with Vince McMahon
turning on Trish and siding with his daughter. The segment
saw Stephanie McMahon poor sewage over her in the middle
of the ring. The following week on Raw, Vince McMahon
embarrassed her further, by having her crawl around the
ring on her knees and bark like a dog. She was later able
to get revenge on Vince at WrestleMania X-Seven, by slapping
him in the face. She was now a full fledged babyface.
After the WWF purchased World Championship Wrestling (WCW),
an "Invasion" storyline began. Numerous WCW employees
were now in the WWF, with both rosters feuding. On July
22, 2001, at the WWF Invasion Pay-Per-View, she teamed
up with her once rival Lita, to defeat Torrie Wilson and
Stacy Keibler in a Bra and Panties match.
Unfortunately for Stratus, she was taken
off of television due to an ankle injury. During her absence,
she co-hosted WWF Excess on TNN.
Upon her return, the WWF Women's Title was vacated. The
new Champion was decided on November 18, 2001, at Survivor
Series in a 6-WAY match involving her, Lita, Molly Holly,
Ivory, Jacqueline and Jazz. She was able to pick up the
win. An intense feud against Jazz followed. The feud saw
her pick up a narrow win against Jazz on January 20, 2002
at the Royal Rumble. Soon, Lita was in the mix, which
led to March 17, 2002--at Wrestlemania X-8, where Jazz
defeated her and Lita in a 3-way match. She got her rematch
one month later on April 21, 2002--at Backlash, where
she was defeated yet again by Jazz. After months of going
at it, on the May 13, 2002 airing RAW, she was able to
defeat Jazz, to regain the title... The match happened
in an intergender match pitting her and Bubba Ray Dudley
against Jazz and Steven Richards. Both the WWE Women's
Championship and hardcore Championship was on the line.
Jazz was sidelined due to injury, and a feud against Molly
Holly began.
Stratus lost the WWE Women's Championship on June 23,
2002 to Molly Holly at King of the Ring 2002, and later
regained it on September 22, 2002 at WWE Unforgiven. Next,
She feuded with Victoria, and lost the belt on November
17, 2002 at Survivor Series. Stratus was able to regain
the belt on March 30, 2003 at WrestleMania XIX, in a 3-Way
match against Victoria and Jazz. The reign was short lived,
and she lost the belt on April 27, 2003 at Backlash to
Jazz. All the title exchanges, made her a 4-Time WWE Women's
Champ.
Her next Championship reign did not come until over a
year later... on June 13, 2004, she picked up the win
a 4-Way match at Bad Blood, to become a 5-Time WWE Women's
Champion. At the time, Stratus was a heel, and was aligned
with Christian and Tyson Tomko. The months that followed,
saw her and Lita once again at odds. Lita would end Trish's
176 dayChampionship reign on the December 6, 2004 airing
of Raw. Trish was able to recapture the title a month
later, on January 9, 2005, at New Year's Revolution. Trish
Stratus went on to successfully defend the WWE Women's
Championship at WrestleMania 21, against Christy Hemme,
who was aligned with Lita. The feud against Christy Hemme
and Lita continued, until Trish was sidelined due to injury.
During Trish's absence from television, she remained WWE
Women's Champ.
She
returned on the September 12, 2005 edition RAW, once again
a babyface, aligning herself with Ashley Massaro. The
two then feuded with Torrie Wilson, Candice Michelle and
Victoria in the months that followed. On the October 10,
2005 airing of RAW, after successfully defeating the Championship
against Victoria, Trish was attacked. Ashley tried to
make the save; however, it was the debuting Mickie James
who saved the day. She introduced herself as Trish's biggest
fans. This was followed by weeks of obsession into 2006.
The crazy antics of Mickie James led to a fed, which escalated
on April 2, 2006, at WrestleMania 22, where Mickie James
defeated her for the belt. The feud continued beween the
ladies in the weeks that followed.
On the June 26, 2006 edition of WWE RAW,Mickie James defeated
Stratus to retain the WWE Women's Championship. This ended
the feud, and a catfight between Stratus and Melina Perez
happened, due to Melina making fun of Trish's loss. During
this time, she also formed a relationship with Carlito--real
name Carly Colón. The two feuded against Melina and Johnny
Nitro. In the weeks that followed, the two also feuded
with Edge and Lita. This led to her retirement from full-time
wrestling, when she defeated Lita on September 17, 2006,
at WWE Unforgiven. Trish Stratus beat Lita for the WWE
Women's title, making her a 7-Time Champion.
Between 2007 and 2010, she made special appearances in
the WWE. A few highlights included the December 22, 2008
airing of RAW (in her hometown Toronto), where her and
John Cena defeated Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix in
the Main Event. The following year, on September 14, 2009
episode of RAW from Toronto, Trish Stratus was the guest
host for the show.
On
February 20, 2011 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California,
for WWE Elimination Chamber, Booker T introduced Trish
Stratus in a segment, announcing her as one of the trainers
in the revival of WWE Tough Enough on the USA network.
During her stint on the show, Trish Stratus had numerous
matches and appearances on WWE programming. Her biggest
match happened on April 3, 2011, at WrestleMania, where
John Morrison, Trish Stratus and Jersey Shore's Snooki
defeated Dolph Ziggler and LayCool with Vickie Guerrero.
The next night one Raw, she and John Morrison defeated
Vickie Guerrero and Dolph Ziggler.
