Layla El Layla El was born on June 25, 1978, in London, England. Years later, in the United States she pursued a career as a performer and entertainer. Layla rose to fame as a dancer, working for the NBA--as a Miami Heat Dancer.

On August 16, 2006, Layla won the 2006 $250,000 WWE Diva Search contest on a one hour special that aired on the USA network. Throughout the summer, she would compete in contests and survived eliminations. She won contests which included a July 14th Sgt. Slaughter Diva Boot Camp--showing great athleticism on Smackdown, and on the August 11th airing of Smackdown, winning a WWE Divas Search Talent show.

Layla El On the August 25th 2006 airing of WWE Smackdown, it was official that she was going to be on the Smackdown brand, as she was interviewed by The Miz. Not long after, she began a rivalry against Kristal Marshall, in which The Miz later joined forces with Kristal. She went on to participate in Diva matches and contests on SmackDown until the end of the year. In 2007, she was moved to the ECW brand. On January 23, 2007 on ECW on Sci Fi along with Kelly Kelly and Brooke Adams, she did a dance routine and the ladies were known as Extreme Expose. The group later broke up and she began feuding with Kelly Kelly.

Numerous media opportunities arose for Layla throughout the year. In April 2007, Layla, along with Kelly Kelly, Brooke Adams, Torrie Wilson, Ashley Massaro and Maryse appeared in rapper/producer Timbaland's music video "Throw It On Me," which featured The Hives. Later, in November of 2007, she appeared on Family Feud with Ric Flair, Batista, Mr. Kennedy, Jonathan Coachman, King Booker and WWE Divas Queen Sharmell, Maria Kanellis, Michelle McCool and Candice Michelle. In February of 2008, she along with Maria Kanellis, Candice Michelle, Torrie Wilson, Kristal Marshall and Michelle McCool appeared on Project Runway, and in April, 2008 she along with Mickie James, Melina Perez, and Kelly Kelly appeared in an episode of Celebrity Fit Club Boot Camp. She appeared on ECW and Raw episodes throughout this time, and on June 25, 2008 Layla El was drafted to RAW.

Once she was back on Raw, she attracted the attention of Jamie Noble. The southern charmer tried to woo and impress her for several weeks. Eventually she pushed him aside in favor of becoming William Regal’s valet. She didn't do much else of note on Raw apart from competing in the 25-Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania 25--she was the first eliminated. She was drafted to Smackdown in April 2009. She immediately sparked a rivalry with fellow Diva Search Winner Eve after being defeated by her in both a dance-off and arm-wrestling contest. Eve Torres defeated her in two singles matches, the second of which featured Maria as the special guest referee. After the match Maria forced the two to shake hands though Layla remained a heel afterwards.

In the summer of 2009, she found herself spending more time alongside the WWE Women’s Champion Michelle McCool. She often acted as her partner in tag team matches and also in activities outside the ring. She frequently helped Michelle taunt and torment the other Divas such as Maria, Melina, Mickie James and Beth Phoenix. By the end of 2009, Layla and Michelle had formed an official stable that was named “Team LayCool”. They adopted personas inspired by that of Mean Girls and TNA’s The Beautiful People. LayCool vowed to give all the other Divas makeovers and relentlessly taunted them, briefly gaining help from Vickie Guerrero. LayCool and Vickie were on the winning side of a 10-Diva Tag match at WrestleMania 26 with Vickie pinning Kelly Kelly.

Team LayCool - Layla El & Michelle MCCoolLayla El would receive the biggest achievement of her career in May 2010 when she and Michelle faced Beth Phoenix in a handicap match for the Women’s Championship. Thanks to Beth’s injured knee, she was able to pin her and win the title. In doing so she became the first Diva Search winner to have held the title, as well as the first British Women’s Champion. As she and Michelle had won the belts in a handicap match, they declared themselves co-Women’s Champions. They each wore identical title belts and took turns defending them in matches. She reignited her old rivalry with Kelly Kelly and successfully defended her title against her at the Money In The Bank PPV. After this, LayCool targeted the Divas’ Champion Melina and challenged her to a title unification match at Night of Champions. Michelle represented LayCool in the match and ended up unifying the titles with Layla’s help. This effectively made her the final Women’s Champion as the title was then retired.

LayCool continued to recognize themselves as co-champions and took turns defending the WWE Divas title against Melina and Natalya. LayCool’s feud with Natalya became incredibly heated and it culminated with the 3rd generation Diva dethroning them in a handicap match at Survivor Series 2010. After the match, the injured Beth Phoenix made her return and inserted herself into their feud as well. This led to the first ever Divas’ tables match at the TLC PPV, where LayCool were on the losing side, Natalya splashed both of them through a table with a caricature of them drawn on it. A few weeks later, LayCool teamed with Dolph Ziggler to face Edge and Kelly Kelly in the main event of Smackdown. Edge’s World Heavyweight Championship was on the line and Kelly Kelly speared her to retain it for him. After this match LayCool showed signs of tension. A loss at WrestleMania to the team of John Morrison, Trish Stratus and Snooki from the Jersey Shore did little to help this. Layla was desperate to keep their friendship intact while Michelle seemed indifferent. She booked both of them in for a few sessions of couples’ counselling. The counselling didn’t have positive results as Michelle eventually turned on Layla, effectively ending their partnership. After a series of brutal fights, Layla El challenged Michelle McCool to a no count-out, no disqualification match at Extreme Rules. Michelle added in another stipulation – the loser would have to leave WWE. At Extreme Rules, she solidified her face turn by apologizing to all the other Divas for her actions in the past. She also managed to defeat Michelle to retire her from WWE. However it was revealed in the next couple of weeks that she had torn both her ACL and MCL. She was written off television by Kharma giving her an Implant Buster and spent the next year rehabbing her knee.

Professional Wrestler Layla ElShe made her return at Extreme Rules the following year. Divas’ Champion Nikki Bella was set to face Beth Phoenix who was deemed unfit to compete due to an ankle injury. Layla turned out to be her replacement and she thwarted an attempt at Twin Magic by Brie Bella to win the Divas’ title. The next night she defeated both twins to retain the title. She also successfully defended her title against Beth Phoenix at Over The Limit 2012 and again at No Way Out 2012. Her next challenger was the rookie Kaitlyn, who won a #1 contender’s battle royal to face her at Night of Champions. She however was incredibly suspicious of Eve, who took a personal interest in their match. Eve claimed she had turned over a new leaf but Layla continued to doubt her. At the Pay Per View, Kaitlyn was found attacked backstage and had to be removed from the match. Eve was her replacement and took advantage of Layla’s sportsmanship to defeat her for the title. She continued to suspect Eve of having a hand in Kaitlyn’s attack and defeated her in a non-title match on Superstars. She lost her title rematch on Raw controversially as her foot had been on the bottom rope when the referee counted to three. However she came up short in a triple threat match against Eve and Kaitlyn at Hell In A Cell 2012.
