This past Sunday, at TNA's Slammiversary PPV, the Knockouts once again were featured throughout the show however I would have to say it wasn't the best we've seen from them at recent pay per views. We saw Mickie Knuckles now known as "Moose", make her TNA in-ring debut as well as notable Indy wrestlers Serena Deeb and Josie challenge Awesome Kong...we also saw an Awesome Bomb to an Elvis impersonator to boot.
From WrestlingRevealed.com...
Gail Kim, ODB, Roxxi Laveaux vs Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, Moose
Good match, but I've seen much better from the Knockouts. Kind of weird that my expectations have been raised a lot higher for them now. It's to the point where I demand a lot more from them because they're fully capable of entertaining me.
Mickie Knuckles, now known as Moose, received some pretty good amount of time in the ring. She displayed an impressive array of submission moves.
ODB picks up the win for the babyfaces.
Winners: Gail Kim, ODB, Roxxi Laveaux
$25,000 Open Challenge Awesome Kong vs Serena Deeb Awesome Kong vs Josie Robinson
Nice segment here.
Serena Deeb, a former WWE developmental wrestler, was chosen to be the opponent for the night. She gets dominated by Awesome Kong. Some pretty vicious bumps were taken, including a couple against the guard rail outside the ring. Awesome Kong finishes her off with an Implant Buster.
As Awesome Kong is walking out, Josie Robinson, who works with the legendary Harley Race, gets in her face and actually slaps her. That sets up the second match. Nice booking here to allow Josie Robinson to get in a bit of offense. However, she was no match for Awesome Kong's vicious powerbomb.
Winner: Awesome Kong
Wedding Jay Lethal & So Cal Val
If you've been watching wrestling for a while now, you know that wrestling weddings never finish with a "happily ever after" theme. This one was no exception.
Sonjay Dutt makes his much anticipated heel turn when he professed his love for So Cal Val. As he proposes to her, a brawl breaks out with Jay Lethal.
Surprisingly, the old school wrestlers were the most entertaining part of the segment. Jake "the Snake" Roberts actually showed up, and he brought along a gigantic new snake. George "the Animal" Steele did his turnbuckle biting routine. Koko B Ware and Kamala got in a few shots on Sonjay Dutt.
Several people have complained about Sonjay Dutt having to take a beating after his heel turn. I can see where they're coming from in that it might hurt his momentum a bit. However, TNA was just giving the live audience a "happy" ending with the veteran wrestlers getting some shine.
Even though the segment was more entertaining than I had expected (of course, I had low expectations to start), I still think TNA needs to leave corny skits like this to WWE.
