The Slammer: This Kong is Awesome
Friday, January 11th 2008

Most know the sad love story of King Kong, who left his island paradise to follow his dream girl to America, only to have it end in his downfall (while falling down 102 stories from the Empire State Building). But this is a happy story of another kind of Kong, a woman who left her island paradise (Japan) to pursue her dream of winning the TNA title belt. Her name - Awesome Kong!

And this week at "Impact," she got the gold (unlike the other Kong who got gonged) when she pinned women's champ Gail Kim.

If you haven't seen her, she's quite the woman, aptly named "Awesome" because she stands 6 feet and weighs, well, being a lady, her weight is classified, but let me tell you she looks like she never met a buffet table she couldn't conquer.

She trained in Japan at the famed Inoki Dojo School of Hard Knocks and has been knocking people silly about for several years, winning a variety of single and tag titles.

But the call to come here proved too tempting and she signed with TNA late last year.

Since joining TNA, Ms. Kong has not only been awesome but a fan favorite for her intensity, culminating in this week's title victory.
