Chrissy Johnson was
born Chrissy Ryzner in February of 1986 in Hughestown,
Pennsylvania. She went from being an avid wrestling
fan to wanting to train to become a wrestler. She began
her wrestling training in 2004, training under the likes
of Bruno Demaio, Draven Blaze, Eric Pinhat,
Rebecca
Payne. She later made her wrestling debut on
April 22 2006 where she and Amos where defeated by Rebecca
Payne and Sega. She joined me for an exclusive interview,
discussing her career thus far,
TNA,
the
WWE, her hopes to make her way
to
Shimmer and much more.
Arron
Carlton: Hello Chrissy, how are
you? I hope all is well?
Chrissy
Johnson: Heyya, I'm great! Thanks
for asking!
Arron
Carlton: No problem
Arron
Carlton: You started wrestling in
2004? What was the process of getting into the business
for you?
Chrissy
Johnson: Actually, I started Training
in 2004, I didn't start taking shows till 2006. I've
been a fan since about the 5th grade, so as soon as
I realized that this is what I wanted to do, I searched
for a local school and my luck one was running not to
far from my house at "The Zoo". I got signed up, the
place closed down a few months later so that gave me
some time to rehab my back that I hurt and I started
back up a year or so later with
EGW
where I finished training and started working. So I
had a few setbacks, but finally got through it.
Arron
Carlton: During the process of training,
did doubt ever come into play at any point?
Chrissy
Johnson: A few times I asked myself
why I still do this and if I'm any good, but I always
had a pretty awesome support system behind me consisting
of
the Valley crew.
Arron
Carlton: Do you want to elaborate
on "the Valley crew" for our readers?
Chrissy
Johnson: The Valley Crew is just
a group of guys...and girls, from the Wyoming Valley.
We're also known as the Zoo Crew as well...Were just
like one big family, we travel together, we train together,
we hang out in our free time.....it's just amazing
Arron
Carlton: Describe your initial reactions
to taking bumps
Chrissy
Johnson: It hurt for a while, but
it didn't throw me for a loop like I thought it would,
though I did knock myself silly a few times, *Laughs*
Arron
Carlton: On the Independent scene
right now, there are many well respected women...Who
so far have you been honored to work with?
Chrissy
Johnson: So far, I've been able
to train under
Amy Lee once, and I've
been in the ring with
Autumn Breeze,
Rebecca
Payne, and
Holly Hottie. Their
all fantastic!!
Arron
Carlton: Who are you looking forward
to working with in the future?
Chrissy
Johnson: Well this weekend, I get
the chance to head out to New Jersey to work Taylor
Nicole Rules, so that should be a good time. But I would
love to work with Maybe
Daizee Haze,
Lacey,
Megan Nicole Desire,
Lita,
Trish Stratus
(If she ever decides to take Indy Bookings) I have such
a long list *Laughs*
Arron
Carlton: This year at
WrestleMania
XXIV, we got a "
BunnyMania"
match where
Ashley Massaro &
Maria
Kanellis were defeated by
Beth Phoenix
&
Melina Perez. The match tied into
Maria Kanellis's
Playboy
issue, much like the Wrestlemania women's matches has
in the last couple of years. How do you feel about this?
What's your opinion on the tone surrounding the
WWE
Women's title in recent years?
Chrissy
Johnson: Granted, I'm not a big
fan of the girls coming in and doing the whole playboy
thing, but that's their choice I guess. I just wish
that they wouldn't tie it into the wrestlemania match.
I mean, I could honestly say that the
WWE
is making the women's division out to be a joke, but
to myself, these girls are legitimate. They bust their
ass just like the rest of us, even though they got their
start through a contest, I still consider them legit
workers who each of them deserve a shot at the belt.
Arron
Carlton: If you could have booked
the
WrestleMania XXIV Women's match,
what would it have been?
Chrissy
Johnson: I'm going to do this as
if
Candice wasn't injured...
Candice
Michelle vs
Victoria
vs
Mickie James vs
Beth Phoenix
for the strap.
Arron
Carlton: Have you had a chance to
catch what
TNA has been doing with
their Women's Division since
Gail Kim
became the first
TNA Women's Champion
at Bound for Glory 2007
Chrissy
Johnson: Yep
Arron
Carlton: What's your opinions on
the progress so far?
Chrissy
Johnson: I love it, I think that
TNA is showing what a legit women's
division is and it's fantastic.
Arron
Carlton: How do you feel stacking
up against the picture perfect Diva image in the industry
today?
Chrissy
Johnson: I really don't feel like
there is a "Perfect" image for girls to live up to now
a days even though many feel that there is.
Arron
Carlton: What are some of your signature
moves or finishers that you are using, or hope to use
in the future?
Chrissy
Johnson: Right now I use a running
bulldog as my finisher and I like to through in a crossbody
and kicks for good measure. But I would like to learn
a few more "risky" moves like hurricurranas and headscissors.
Arron
Carlton: Lastly, what are you foreseeable
goals to help in the forwarding of your career?
Chrissy
Johnson: My main goal is to just
go out and do my absolute best, but I would also like
to maybe bring home some gold this year...like I have
the chance to do this Saturday...I would also love to
work for
Shimmer as well, so we'll
see what the future holds .
