Velvet McIntyre - Biography:
Seeing Velvet McIntyre in the 80's with her
Flying Headscissors; and Single Legged Dropkick
one couldn't help but be captivated by her agility.
Perhaps one of the female athletes that set up
the groundwork for female high flyers in the US.
Velvet Mykietowich began her wrestling career
in 1980 when she went to train with Sandy Barr
and soon after she rose to fame in the WWF. On
May 13th 1983 Velvet McIntyre and Desiree Peterson
won the NWA Women's World Tag Team Championship
which later became the WWF Women's Tag Team Championship.
Her Tag Team partner then became Princess
Victoria. Both Princess Victoria
and Velvet were extremely over with WWF crowds.
Desiree Peterson later became her partner once
again.
On April 7th 1986 at WrestleMania 2, The Fabulous
Moolah defeated Velvet McIntyre in 2 minutes to
retain the Women's title. All wasn't lost, for
on July 3rd 1986 Velvet McIntyre defeated the
Fabulous Moolah for the WWF Women's title in Brisbane,
Australia. The reign was short lived and Moolah
regained the title days later.
