Team Bella vs Team BAD

Team Bella scored a little pick-me-up on Raw, snagging a surprise win over PCB after Paige walked out on her partners. With Nikki hoping to gain momentum heading into her rematch with Charlotte, she’s captaining Team Bella to face Team BAD on Smackdown. It’s a rematch from last week’s Main Event, where Nikki tapped out to Sasha. So you can bet they’ll want to erase that from recent memory. Additionally we get to hear from the new Divas’ Champion Charlotte about Paige’s little stunt on Raw.

Team BAD have microphones with them. Naomi says that there’s been a lot of talk about who started this revolution. Sasha asks Tamina if she cares who started it – and gets a glare in response. Sasha says it doesn’t matter who started, and the only thing fans will care about is Team BAD ending it. “You can bank-on-that.” Marry me now.

Brie starts with a slap to Sasha. The former NXT Women’s Champion fires back with a slap of her own, and the two take turns ramming each other into the corner. Brie faceplants Sasha and delivers some stiff kicks to her chest. Sasha ducks the last one and rolls Brie up for two. Naomi tags in for the leap frog hip drop double team. Brie counters a scoop slam and chop blocks Naomi, tagging Alicia Fox in. Naomi ducks a double clothesline, and tags in Tamina who clotheslines both Alicia and Brie. Tamina goes for the Samoan Drop but Alicia escapes and tags Nikki. The former Divas’ Champion attempts to shoulder tackle Tamina, but the latter won’t be moved. She gets a sneaky forearm, but Tamina comes back with her own shoulder tackle and connects with the Samoan Drop this time. She goes up top but Brie and Alicia pull Nikki out of the ring. Naomi and Sasha then blindside them all with baseball slides, as we go to commercial.

Naomi has Nikki in a headlock and goes for an early Rear View. But Nikki blocks and sends Naomi to the apron. Naomi fights off attacks from Brie and Alicia, and goes for a springboard. Nikki cuts her off however and distracts the referee, allowing Brie and Alicia to pull Naomi out of the ring. Back inside Alicia tags in and lands a double axe handle to Naomi’s arm…and then goes to a surfboard stretch. Naomi works to her feet and Alicia goes for a tilt-a-whirl – but Naomi counters and ends up on her feet. The two collide with a double clothesline, but Nikki tries to knock the rest of Team BAD off the apron. Sasha however is able to make the tag and clears house. She hits Nikki with her double knees, and then lands the knees to the midriff. Alicia breaks the pin and boots Naomi out of the ring. Tamina superkicks her out, and gets dumped out by Brie. Sasha throws Brie out and walks into a forearm from Nikki. She sets up the Rack Attack but Tamina has come back into the ring! She goes for a superkick, and Nikki throws Sasha aside to block it. As Nikki sends Tamina out of the ring, Sasha gets her from behind with the Bank Statement. As Tamina restrains Brie, Nikki taps out.

Winners: Team BAD

Elsewhere there’s an interview with Becky Lynch and the Divas’ Champion Charlotte. We’re shown a replay of Paige’s actions on Raw, as well as Natalya trying to help. Charlotte says that Paige’s entitled brat campaign came out of nowhere, and Becky says they’re trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. Speaking of the devil, Paige is here now. Charlotte gives her an ultimatum: either she’s with them or against them. The two of them walk away, and Paige turns around to see Natalya standing there. She warns Paige never to disrespect her like she did on Raw.

Thoughts:

Bah, I loved Smackdown. Even though we got the same match we saw on Main Event, we didn’t literally get *the same match*. I really applaud the girls for again, switching things up and trying new spots. It would have been so easy for them to just repeat their spots from that match. After all half the crowd would be none the wiser. But they made the effort to make this match different, as well as enjoyable. And it was. I loved the heated slap-off between Brie and Sasha; it looked nice and vicious. Brie’s kicks looked solid too. I was quite impressed with Tamina here. I’ve said it time and again, but playing a babyface in the ring suits her far more than a heel. When she needs to be snappy and energetic in the ring, she totally nails it. When she needs to take her time and dominate, she’s usually not very good. Naomi likewise takes a beating and busts out flashy comebacks much better than trying to work over her opponents. I loved that spot between her and Alicia Fox. Their chemistry was great in the match on Main Event – and it was even better here. Surprisingly enough the stuff between Sasha and Nikki wasn’t that solid. There were a few moments where they didn’t seem to be on the same wavelength – such as Sasha’s clotheslines. Likewise I’ve lost count of the amount of times Nikki has messed up that spinebuster. She should just toss it aside and come up with something that works. But the ending was thankfully very good. I especially liked the little touch of Nikki visibly trying to break Sasha’s grip right before she went for the back cracker. And that part of Tamina preventing Brie from breaking up the submission was an inspired touch.

Once again all three members of Team BAD worked very well as the de-facto faces. We’ve seen them play faces twice in a row now. Main Event can’t really be considered canon, as it’s a lot like a house show. If it doesn’t happen on Raw or Smackdown, then chances are we’re not supposed to remember it. But Team BAD played faces on Smackdown, which does tend to count. So does this mean that BAD are going to become G-O-O-D? I have a feeling that this win will signal a feud between them and Team Bella as soon as Nikki’s rematch is done and dusted. If it means Divas tag titles, then we’ll all go home happy. Meanwhile we got another progression in terms of the PCB break-up. It’s nice to see that they’re not automatically broken up and that it’s developing beyond a couple of segments. It’s curious that Paige would be left speechless by Charlotte’s ultimatum. After all, did she really want to leave PCB? It’s a question I’d like to get a good answer too. Likewise I loved Natalya’s little bit. She’s been treated as the goofball of the division so often it’s always great when she gets to step up and be a badass. I love the inclusion of Natalya into this; it’s like injecting glucose into a coma patient.

Just like Sasha said, Nikki’s title reign was indeed stupid, the reason of her reign was just because of Cena’s influence plus rarely defended it and even she defended, it’s mostly by cheating or Brie’s interference, and Nikki is too naive to think that the longest reigning champ means the best champ of all time, so Nikki should stop bringing up again.

Or possibly because she worked hard, did everything the company asked of her and they decided to trust her with the title? Whenever I hear people saying she only got the title because of Cena, I wonder why she didn’t get a better reign. She mostly just jobbed out to whoever her challengers were and only won her defences, when she actually got them anyway

I wanna see next week on Raw, Charlotte vs Nikki in rematch for Divas Title with Becky, Brie and Foxy at ringside, Paige is on commentary, when Charlotte locks Nikki on Figure 8, Brie distracts the referee and Foxy breaks up the hold, Becky argue with Brie and Foxy led them to fight.

Meanwhile after Nikki gives Charlotte the Rack Attack and about to pin, Paige comes in and breaks the pin, gives Nikki a DQ win but Charlotte retains Divas Title. Later it announces Charlotte going to defend Divas Title against Nikki and Paige at Hell In A Cell PPV, perhaps they may add Sasha in too.

This week Smackdown, Team Bella titantron changed form The Bella Twins to Team Bella, mean that they will stay at faction for next few months?

Or that way in next few weeks, Paige tried to find someone to team with her against Team Bella but none of them agree to team with her due to her history of betraying the number of teammates, leaving her 1 on 3 against Team Bella.

Late in the match when Paige going to lose, suddenly the monster woman like Jessicka Havok comes out of nowhere and dismantles Team Bella, no matter how Team Bella hits her, Havok no sells, like Braun Strowman debuts and destroys Ambrose and Reigns, then Paige and Havok stand tall, signalling their new alliance.

    • Bobby Calloway

Havok won’t be hired by WWE. Around the time she tried out, the same people who tried to implicate Zahra and Jasmin dug up old tweets with racist language on them and that put the kibosh on her WWE hopes.
