TNA has apparently added another lady to its waning Knockouts roster – and this time it’s not a former star making a return. Florida-based indie wrestler and rising SHINE star Santana Garrett has reportedly signed a deal with TNA. She appeared for the company previously last year at the Knockouts’ Knockdown PPV (losing to Brooke Tessmacher). She also appeared on an episode of NXT against Charlotte. She last appeared for SHINE on Friday, competing against the debuting Serena Deeb. We look forward to seeing Santana regularly on Thursday nights, especially if it’s against Gail Kim. Read below for even more news.
Accomplished indie wrestler “Portugal’s Perfect Athlete” Shanna has also been confirmed to be working several matches for TNA’s UK tour. No word on whether or not Shanna has yet been signed. The Dublin show, which took place last night, featured a Knockouts tag match – Gail Kim & Lei’D Tapa vs ODB and the new Knockouts Champion Madison Rayne. Velvet Sky acted as the special guest referee. ODB was isolated by the heels but eventually made the hot tag to Madison, who won with a spear on Gail.
Speaking of Gail Kim, the three-time Knockouts Champion sat down for an interview with Pete Rosenberg. In the space of an hour, she discussed how she got started with wrestling, her experience in developmental and her recent matches with Taryn Terrell. She also goes into detail about some more candid things such as WWE’s attitude towards the Divas they don’t consider to be “the pretty ones”, details behind her controversial elimination in her final battle royal, how she prefers to work with newer girls and loads more. A really great and insightful interview that any Gail fans will definitely enjoy. You can watch the full thing below:
Fans have been speculating that Total Divas cast member Joseanne “JoJo” Offerman was conspicuously not featured in the second half of the season. Previews released by the E! Network has confirmed that JoJo will not appear on season 2 of the show. However she has been replaced by none other than Summer Rae. Summer’s “baby boopies” Fandango was featured in a couple of episodes last season, so it seems the TV cameras found her eventually too. One preview saw Natalya call her “a stripper” and get slapped in the face for her troubles. Total Divas season 2 premieres in March.
One of the newest NXT Divas and Ireland’s proudest export Rebecca Knox has finally been snapped by fan cameras. Rebecca, now under the ring name Becky Lynch, faced Bayley at a live event on January 17th. Earlier reports said that Becky was going for the gimmick of an Irish caricature that makes up limericks about her opponents. If this match is an indicator, the limericks appear to have been dropped – but the Irishness is still very much intact. Becky played a similar character when she wrestled years ago. Today is also Becky’s birthday. Watch the video below.
A new SHINE Champion was crowned on Friday. Ivelisse Velez became the second SHINE Champion in history, as she defeated fellow Valkyrie team member Rain. As a result, Ivelisse was kicked out of Valkyrie and her replacement was revealed to be Serena Deeb. What’s more is that Rain announced her retirement from wrestling post-match. Rain had previously pulled the wool over her fans’ eyes at the last SHINE event with a worked retirement angle. This time it appears to be legit. We thank Rain for all her years of hard work for our entertainment. And we wish her the best in whatever she chooses to do now.
