WWE Money in the Bank 2013

On July 14, 2013, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for World Wrestling Entertainment’s Money in the Bank 2013 Pay-Per-View, Kaitlyn was the challenger for the WWE Divas Championship in a match against AJ Lee

AJ Lee (c) vs. Kaitlyn

The entrances: Divas Champion AJ Lee made her way to the ring for this match accompanied by Big E Langston. Out next with Kaitlyn accompanied by Layla. A video recap of Smackdown’s contract signing was then played. Kaitlyn’s left elbow was bandaged up, and the commentators made note that she hyperextended her elbow when she speared AJ on Smackdown.

The start: After the starting bell for the match, Kaitlyn hit AJ in the stomach, causing her to drop to the mat. AJ crawled out to the apron; however, Kaitlyn threw her back into the ring. Kaitlyn then hit her Fireman’s carry gutbuster on AJ. Kaitlyn threw AJ Lee to ringside, there she put AJ on her shoulder, in which AJ powered out of. AJ then sent Kaitlyn elbow first into a ring-post.

Money in the Bank 2013 Divas MatchMid-match notes: AJ Lee controlled most of the match, as she worked over Kaitlyn’s left elbow throughout. Kaitlyn was able to make a comeback in the match after powering out of a sleeper hold with a back-breaker to AJ. Kaitlyn then hit her usual offense. Kaitlyn got a near-fall with an Inverted DDT, and later attempted another cover after a hard clothesline. AJ was then able to slow Kaitlyn down once again after reversing a suplex with a single arm DDT.

The Finish: As Kaitlyn favored her elbow, AJ Lee climbed the top ropes. Kaitlyn then shoved AJ off the ropes where she was caught by Big E Langston. Back in the ring AJ attempted a small package, but was instead the recipient of a spear by Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn injured her elbow with the spear, leaving herself wide open to the Black Widow, in which she tapped out to…

Winner: AJ Lee

Thoughts: This was another good match by the two, that was given decent time. However, their match at WWE Payback was the better of the two. The booking of the match made sense, as far as AJ Lee working over Kaitlyn’s elbow throughout. Which  is a realistic booking of the much smaller AJ Lee getting offense on the stronger Kaitlyn.

Although the match was executed well by the ladies, there was nothing stand-out about it. If we get another Pay-Per-View match between the two it needs to be taken to the next level, with a possible gimmick involved.

Dolph Ziggler and AJ LeeLater on the show AJ Lee got involved in Dolph Ziggler‘s World Heavyweight Championship Match against Alberto Del Rio. AJ cost Ziggler the match after she hit Alberto Del Rio in the face with the Divas Championship, causing Dolph Ziggler to be disqualified.

I suppose the match was good but it felt like a bit of a letdown, much like Eve vs Beth at Survivor Series. It just couldn’t top their previous outing. I expect Layla will get the next title opportunity -- she’s got to get something from standing around at ringside these past few weeks. Her and AJ have put on good matches in the past so it would be great to see them get a PPV match. I’d also love a high profile mixed tag -- AJ & Del Rio vs Layla & Ziggler. There’s really nothing more Kaitlyn can do with this feud -- she’s tapped out twice

I hope Natalya or Tamina will be AJ´s next opponent.

We need a Naomi vs AJ feud next.

AJ vs. Paige @ SummerSlam: Champion vs. Champion (‘cuz Paige will win the Women’s Belt at NXT b4 that) Would that be a fun match, huh?
