On the January 31, 2013 edition of iMpact Velvet Sky calls out Tara & Jesse Godderz on Open Fight Night.
- Velvet Sky comes out to the ring, sporting new ring gear I may add, and she is clearly not happy. She uses Open Fight Night to call out the two reasons she isn’t Knockouts Champion. Tara & Jesse Godderz come out. Sky says this isn’t going to be a handicap match and calls out James Storm.
TNA Knockouts – January 31, 2013 iMpact Match Intergender Match Velvet Sky & James Storm vs. Tara & Jesse Godderz
- James Storm & Jesse Godderz start off the match. Storm just manhandles Godderz until Tara distracts James. Jesse and James wrestle a little bit more until Storm hits a wicked Backstabber and the two men tag in their lady partners. Sky takes it to the Knockouts champ with a couple clotheslines and a nice headsciccors takedown before Tara takes Sky down with a knee and trys to throw Sky into Jesse’s elbow, but Velvet reverses it and Tara & Jesse crash into each other. Velvet pins Tara with a school girl, but only gets a two count. Velvet takes Tara down with a facebuster and the two guys come back in. Storm hits a “Codebreaker” and Tara then grabs him and starts yelling at him. Velvet recovers and hits an In Yo Face for the three count and the win.
Winners: Velvet Sky & James Storm
TNA Knockouts XPlosion Mickie James vs. Brooke Tessmacher
Thoughts: Velvet and Tara and Jesse and James had a really fun little match. Jesse is actually a lot better than I thought he would be when he wrestled and actual match. Tara and Velvet really complimented each other really well and made each other look really well. Onto the Mickie/Brooke match it was a greatly wrestled match, but something just didn’t click for me. The match never really felt like it got out of first gear for me. I know it was supposed to come accross as a friendly encounter, but you can do that and still make the match feel big and important. And I didn’t feel like this match was big or important. It was a great match, but besides that there wasn’t much else to it.
Miss the days of girls mixing it up with the guys… mixed tag matches are so watered down these days. Great crowd though. And as far as Jessie, I am guessing you have not been watching his matches outside of his story with Tara, yes, he is quite good.
Mickie and Brooke were great as usual. Hopefully now that TNA is taking Impact on the road, Mickie James will get used the way she should.
