WWE Divas – January 25, 2013 Smackdown Match: Natalya vs. Rosa Mendes
— They lock up, and Natalya takes control with a headlock takeover. Rosa counters Natalya’s headlock with a headlock of her own by using her legs. Natalya gets out of the hold with a flip up, and does a bit of showing off. Natalya gets Rosa with a leg lock, and Rosa gets out of it with another headlock. Rosa’s now in control after a mat slam. Rosa locks in a headlock on Natalya and stretches her out to add even more pain. Natalya’s able to get out of the hold and takes Rosa down with a discus clothesline for a two count. Natalya has Rosa over her shoulders. Rosa attempts to counter with a roll up, and Natalya attempts to counter with the sharpshooter. Things are broken up after Rosa gets to the ropes. Rosa takes Natalya down with a clotheslines and smashers her head into the canvas multiple times. Rosa starts dancing, and when Hornswoggle mocks her, Rosa gets distracted. This allows Natalya to lock in the sharpshooter in on Rosa, and Rosa taps out, giving Natalya the win!

Thoughts: I was kind of nervous about this match because I’m not a fan of Rosa’s dancing, but she didn’t do bad. This match wasn’t the best women’s wrestling match of the week, but it wasn’t bad. Natalya can pull a great match out of anyone, even Rosa. It was different, yet nice to see a match between divas that we don’t get to see wrestle much take place. It’d be nice if WWE could continue with this side feud between Rosa and Natalya. If only they’d be smart enough to pair Natalya up with people other than Khali and Hornswoggle…
Not a fan of Natalya being paired with Khali and Hornswoggle either, but it serves its purpose of transitioning her from heel to face. The match itself was decent for what it was, it is sad that we have so little expectations of Rosa, someone who has been wrestling for so long. It shows that everyone is not a natural in the ring.

Wow, has Rosa actually been training in between managing Primo and Epico? The last couple of times we’ve seen her in the ring she’s managed to have respectable performances. Match was decent enough and while I’m not wild about Natalya being with Khali and Hornswoggle, at least she’s not jobbing or farting
