Top 25 Ranking of 2012 – #4:
Eve Torres

Ranked #23 in 2011
Ranked #15 in 2010

This year, Eve Torres ranks #4 on Lethalwow.com’s Annual Top 25 Ranking. The first time she has placed in the Top 10 of the ranking. What an incredible year for Eve Torres… From her Hoeski storyline with John Cena and Zack Ryder, to becoming Executive Administrator to Raw and SmackDown General Manager John Laurinaitis. Wrestling at WrestleMania XXVIII, to winning NBC’s Stars Earn Stripes. And of course, ending 2012 being on top of the WWE Divas Division…

Eve Torres ended the year 2011 seemingly making a romantic connection with Zack Ryder. This pairing escalated in the first few weeks of 2012, as Zack’s friendship with John Cena caused the latter’s feud with Kane to have consequences for the couple. This resulted in Eve being heavily featured in video packages and episode recaps on WWE programming. The storyline took a major turn on the February 13 episode of WWE Raw, with Eve passionately kissing John Cena in front of Zack Ryder, which led to her announcing on the February 20 episode of Raw, that she had just been using Zack to further her own career, turning heel in the process and getting branded a “Hoeski” by Cena. Eve continued to toy with Zack in the following weeks, claiming she wanted to be “friends with benefits” but turned on him at WrestleMania XXVIII after costing him his match. Earlier in the night, she teamed with Divas’ Champion Beth Phoenix in a losing effort against her former friend Kelly Kelly and Extra host Maria Menounos. The match came about after Beth Phoenix and Eve confronted Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos on an episode of Extra.

John Laurinaitis and Eve TorresEve was then affiliated with Raw GM John Laurinaitis, as an Executive Administrator and as such was featured regularly on television, interacting with many top stars such as Big Show, CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio. She even found herself in charge of running Smackdown for a week. After Laurinaitis was fired, Eve requested a job as assistant to new Smackdown GM Booker T, and defeated Kaitlyn in a match on the August 17, episode of Smackdown to earn it. During this time, Eve Torres starred on NBC‘s Stars Earn Stripes reality-show, which first aired on August 13, 2012. On the show, Eve competed against the likes of Dean Cain, Laila Ali, and Terry Crews, in numerous simulated U.S. military missions. Eve Torres went on to win the competition.

Back in World Wrestling Entertainment, Eve found herself a part of the Divas Championship picture, as she took an interest in the match made for Night of Champions between Kaitlyn and champion Layla—although Layla suspected Eve had other ideas. Eve continued to insist that she was turning over a new leaf, showing sportsmanship to Kaitlyn after defeating her in a match on Raw. At Night of Champions—September 16, 2012, Eve found Kaitlyn attacked backstage, which left her injured. Booker T then made Eve the replacement in the Divas Championship match. Eve revealed her true colors during the match, and defeated Layla to win her third Divas Championship—the first three-time WWE Divas Champion in history. Eventually, Kaitlyn and Layla discovered that Eve put up Aksana—disguised under a blonde wig, to attack Kaitlyn at Night of Champions. This led to a full-on feud between Kaitlyn and Eve Torres, going into 2013.

During her run as Divas Champion, Eve Torres defeated Kaitlyn and Layla on numerous occasions. Highlights included defeating both Layla and Kaitlyn in a Triple Threat Match at Hell In A Cell 2012, and Kaitlyn in a one-on-one at WWE Survivor Series 2012. Other wins include multiple victories over AJ Lee and Layla at WWE Live Events, and Naomi at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 16, 2012.

The year did not start great for this team, who teamed up with Sara Del Rey at AAW’s 8th Anniversary Show, to be defeated by Athena , Christina Von Eerie and MsChif. On the next taping—Shimmer Women Athletes Volume 46, Portia Perez was unable to pick up a win over Shimmer Champion Cheerleader Melissa.

Back in Tag action, The Canadian NINJAs picked up a victory at the taping for Shimmer Women Athletes Volume 47—over Davina Rose and Mia Yim. On the next taping—Shimmer Women Athletes Volume 48, they were unable to win the Shimmer Tag-Team Championships in a Four-way elimination tag team match. The Queens of Winning (Courtney Rush and Sara Del Rey) walked away Shimmer Tag Champions that night.

Many weeks later, on July 7, 2012–at nCw Femmes Fatales IX, The Canadian NINJAs defeated the The Cherries (Cherry Bomb & Sweet Cherrie), in a #1 Contendership Match for the Shimmer Tag belts. Later on the show, they defeated Courtney Rush & Sara Del Rey, to become Shimmer Champions. This made them the only team in history to hold the Shimmer Tag-Team belts on 2 occasions.

The ladies went on to successfully defend the belts on 2 occasions… on Shimmer Women Athletes Volume 49 over Kana and LuFisto, and on Shimmer Women Athletes Volume 52 over Regeneration X (Allison Danger and Leva Bates).
