Beth Phoenix versus Eve Torres

On the October 1, 2012 episode of WWE Raw, WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres faced Beth Phoenix…

At the start of Raw, AJ announced that she was under probation by the board of directors, and announced Kane and Bryan vs. Punk and Ziggler in the show’s Main Event.

Later, Kaitlyn was seen backstage, when approached by AJ and her executive coach—assigned to assist her in her job as Raw General Manager. It looked as if we were going to see a mended friendship between Kaitlyn and AJ; however, it was all an act, just for AJ’s amusement…

Could AJ have anything to do with the attack on Kaitlyn at Night of Champions?

WWE Divas – October 1, 2012 Raw Match:
Eve Torres vs. Beth Phoenix

—WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres made her way first to the ring for this match. A video was played of Eve Torres complimenting a number of fellow Divas, followed by Beth Phoenix making her way to the ring. A recap was played, of Beth Phoenix being suspended by Eve Torres on Smackdown (Results: Beth Phoenix vs. Natalya), and the decision being reversed by Booker T. As the bell rang, Eve Torres pleaded with Beth, and motioned for a hand-shake. Beth Phoenix did not buy Eve’s insincerity and took Eve down. Beth was taking the fight to Eve, but went shoulder-first into a corner steal post after Eve moved out of the way. What followed was all Eve, as she dismantled Beth at ring-side. After returning to the ring after almost being counted out, Beth was able to get back on her game with an inverted atomic drop. The finish saw Eve Torres fake an injury, which led her to hitting her neck-breaker on Beth Phoenix for the win…

Winner(s): Eve Torres at 2:35

After the match, we saw another backstage segment with AJ, where Wade Barrett gave her a piece of his mind.

Later, AJ appeared in the arena yet again, this time, as the special guest referee in the main event; Kane and Daniel Bryan vs. C.M. Punk (w/Paul Heyman) and Dolph Ziggler (w/Vickie Guerrero). But not before telling off Mr. Stevenson….

Thoughts: Despite Beth’s strikes that did not connect during her take-down, and the abrupt ending, Both women did great in the match. This should have been longer, and the crowd reaction could have been better. There was no real story-line progression here, so we can assume that we will get some on Smackdown. Frankly, since it was a non-title match, having Beth win would have been much more of an interesting outcome. Hell, Layla beat Eve Torres on WWE Superstars (September 28, 2012 Superstars Match).

Great job by AJ Lee and Vickie Guerrero as usual. Unfortunately for AJ, with her constant questionable actions, I do not see her being book as General Manager of Raw much longer.

Good match…I agree it didn’t start out well…I hope Beth gains momentum in the next couple of weeks and picks up a few wins . I think she will have a match against Eve (maybe Layla or Kaitlyn will join the match as well?) at HIAC for the divas championship..that would be nice if she won the title at her final match like Trish did at Unforgiven. AJ and Vickie work well together…all of their segments together are great.

Having Beth Phoenix win, would have been her momentum. Which would have surely propel her into the title picture. Heck… Eve vs. Beth vs Layla vs Kaitlyn at Hell in a Cell was an easy booking.

Yeah you’re right she would gain momentum by picking up wins in the following weeks till HIAC…I hope that will happen .That would be nice booking since they all have motives to compete in that match: Layla wants to regain the title, Kaitlyn wants to make up for losing her title shot, and Beth wants to get payback for being wrongly accused and suspended by Eve.

Not a bad match at all but strange ending. Are we getting Eve vs Layla or Beth? Like you said we will have to wait for Smackdown. I’d really prefer a triple threat to be honest
