On the June 21, 2012 edition of TNA iMpact Brooke Hogan choose an opponent for TNA Knockouts Champion Brooke Tessmacher, while Tara faced GutCheck Challenge hopeful Taeler Hendrix.
- Our first glance of Knockouts comes as Mickie James, Madison Rayne, Velvet Sky & ODB are seen backstage waiting for Brooke Hogan. As Miss Hogan comes in she thanks them all for coming and tells them that they need to get their priorities straight and that only the strong will get to wear Knockouts Gold. ODB talks about how she isn’t like the other girls, Velvet says she never got her title re-match back from November, Mickie claims she is the best Women’s wrestler and Madison talks about how she’s the second longest Knockouts Title holder. Brooke listens intently and then eliminates Madison from tonight’s title run and tells her she needs to focus less of her “imaginary boyfriend” and more on being the best she can be.
Thoughts: I thought this came off really well. Brooke Hogan is getting better as the weeks go by. I thought all four women gave decent explanations as to why they deserved a title shot, and agree that Madison needs to focus on Wrestling. She can worry about her “imaginary boyfriend” during her days off.
- Up next we have the GutCheck Challenger, and the first female, OVW Wrestling Star Taeler Hendrix. Hendrix explains how she’s wanted to be a wrestler ever since she saw other women wrestling when she was a small girl. She explains she’s been wrestling for six years, and that she’s already overcome one huge obstacle in her life; She was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 21. She says she wont be happy until she’s not only TNA Knockouts Champion, but also the Knockouts Tag Team Champion.
Thoughts: Taeler seems like a nice girl. She seems very well spoken, and her red hair and obvious energetic personality will help her stand out in TNA’s crowded Knockout’s division. My only gripe: Taeler was MISS-diagnosed with Cancer. Her lump was found to be dead, so I don’t really like the idea of TNA trying to pull a fast one and making us feel bad for this girl.
TNA Knockouts – June 21, 2012 Knockouts Match – GutCheck Challenge Taeler Hendrix vs. Tara
- Taeler tries to shake hands, but Tara is having none of it and slaps the hand of the woman show could possibly take her job away. From there Tara trash talks and beats down the GutCheck hopeful. Taeler pulls off some nice moves, like that nifty Sunset Flipand the handstand headscissors. But in the end Tara ducks a roundhouse kick and lays Hendrix out with a Widows Peak for the three count.
Winner: Tara at 2:34
Thoughts: Nice solid match. Tara made Hendrix look like gold, and really except for the awkward Widows Peak I didn’t see any other really noticeable botches or miss timed things. Would I give Miss Hendrix a contract? No. TNA has far too many women for a two hour show. They need to use their own Knockouts first before they start bringing in new ones.
- We go back backstage and find Brooke Hogan still with the other three ladies. She makes a quick decision and tells ODB she needs to get her personal life in order before she gets a nice singles push. ODB laughs it off and ask where Daddy Hogan’s office is and Brooke tells her to be careful, Eric might get jealous. ODB shrugs it off saying “He can watch.”
Thoughts: ODB cracks me up and yet again Brooke delivered her lines believably.
-And finally We see that Brooke has decided that since she gave Velvet Sky the music video she’ll give Mickie James the title shot.
TNA Knockouts – June 21, 2012 Knockouts Title Match Brooke Tessmacher vs. Mickie James
- After a couple lock ups and wrist locks and reversals Mickie James steps up and control Tessmacher for a majority of the match. In the end Mickie hits the Mick Kick, but only gets a two count and she goes for the MickDT, but Tessmacher reverses it into a Sunsetflip, for the three count and retains her title.
Post Match: Mickie gives Tessmacher her now infamous staredowns.
Winner: And Still TNA Knockouts Champion Brooke Tessmacher at 5:20
Thoughts: This was hands down the best of the Tessmacher-James matches. I loved the reversals and chain wrestling at the beginning. I liked that Mickie controlled most of the match. And I was jumping up and down when Mickie gave Brooke the “Dagger Eyes”. Overall this was a great night for the ladies and a nice step in the right direction.
