—On the June 18, 2012 edition of WWE Raw, Wendi Richter and Cyndi Lauper made a special appearance on Raw. The ladies were introduced by WWE Divas Champion Layla, and were later interrupted by Heath Slater. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper came to the ring to defend Cyndi Lauper, who was disrespected by Heath Slater. Lauper’s connection to Piper goes back to the WWE Rock-n-Wrestling Connection days, where they feuded…

Thoughts: Another bad night for women in wrestling… Sadly, the crowd was disrespectful to both Wendi Richter and Cyndi Lauper. Micheal Cole was also equally disrespectful… his antics was not needed for the segment. Women’s Wrestling history has never been celebrated in the WWE over the years, so of course the entire Wendi Richter/Cyndi Lauper/Piper bit might have been a blur for many fans. And while Wendi Richter and Cyndi Lauper may have come across dated and cheesy for today’s wrestling audience, the reaction to them was very disappointing. Of course this is all the WWE’s fault, as women have been treated as unimportant in WWE programming over the years.

On a better note, the one woman in the WWE that has been given a shot… AJ, continued her batshit crazy angle, making a hilarious appearance during a CM Punk & Sheamus versus Daniel Bryan and Kane match…
