On June 17, 2012, at World Wrestling Entertainment’s No Way Out Pay-Per-View, Beth Phoenix once again challenged Layla for the WWE Divas Championship. This time, the ladies battled at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

—Beth Phoenix was out first for the match-up, followed by WWE Divas Champion Layla. A cocky Beth Phoenix attempted to use her strength early on, but Layla threw her off her game with mind games. Beth was not able to dominate like she usually does. Instead, this was back–and–fort match, with Layla hitting her Lay-Out for the win…

Thoughts: As the weeks go by, it is becoming more-and-more evident that the WWE Universe does not care about Layla. As a face, with the Lay-Cool gimmick removed, she is not over, and that is not looking to change anytime soon. While the ladies gave a good effort, the match was forgettable—with the lack of crowd reaction burying it deeper. Layla’s comedy bits in the match did not help either, coming off cheesy if anything… Not every can execute comedy in Wrestling matches successfully. The WWE Divas Division is certainly in a bad place right now, with the WWE needing to put more effort with stories, and utilize other women that are currently not used regularly.
