The Belle Saints: Marti Belle and Tina San Antonio… Future Champions

While there has been a slew of young talent making an impact on television in 2010, there has been numerous up-and-comers on the Independent scene that have made an impact as well. Tina San Antonia (Interview) and Marti Belle (Interview) are among those women making a splash this year. Together, the ladies are know as “The Belle Saints,” and are without a doubt destined to have gold around their waists.

In 2009, both Tina and Marti made their wrestling debuts at Johnny Rodz’ World of Unpredictable Wrestling (WUW), after being trained by the likes of Johnny Rodz, Mac Daddy Flexx, Joe so Delicious and numerous others. It wasn’t long before the ladies ventured into other promotions. On March 6, 2010 “The Belle Saints,” made their WSU debut at their 3rd Anniversary show. The ladies made a very impressive showing, but were unfortunately defeated by The Boston Shore (Amber & Lexxus). This was not bad news for the ladies, as in the months that followed, they became a mainstay in WSU, working their way up to the number one contender position for the WSU Tag Team Titles—Titles currently held by Women’s Wrestling veterans Jana and Cindy Rogers.

The Belle Saints gained the opportunity to face the WSU Tag Team Champions Jana and Cindy Rogers on November 6 (when WSU goes live on gofightlive.tv), due to Tina San Antonio pinning Cindy Rogers in a singles match. “It may have been called one of the biggest upset of the year; however, I did score that victory. We have a real chance at victory,” Tina noted in her October 19, 2010 Lethalwow.com Interview“The Belle Saints are definitely underestimated as a tag team because we are new comers.” While the ladies are very eager to prove that they should not be underestimated due to their short time as wrestlers, they do realize that it will be quite the battle… “I can say working Jana made me realize that this show coming up will not be an easy one; if we want those titles we are going to have to beat one of the best tag teams out there today” – Marti Belle (October 10, 2010 Interview).

In WSU, there has been some great pairings as tag team champions in the past… Including the power of Jessicka Havok & Hailey Hatred, and the surprising alliance of Mercedes Martinez and Angel Orsini. None of which has been ground breaking reigns in comparison to Mercedes Martinez‘s 30-plus defenses of the WSU heavyweight Title. Will Jana & Cindy Rogers defeat The Belle Saints to add a notch to their reign?, or will The Belle Saints name be solidified in Women’s Wrestling tag team history with a title to their name. A win for The Belle Saints will not be the first time fairly new wrestlers have captured the belts. Back in 2009, Brittney Savage & Miss April defeated Annie Social & Roxxie Cotton to Win the WSU Tag Titles. Miss April went on to become A.J Lee on WWE NXT, and Brittney Savage (Lethalwow.com 2009: Best Newcomer) went on to become a top player in WSU (She is currently the WSU Spirit champion), and wrestle Beth Phoenix on the November 6, 2009 edition of WWE SmackDown. Winning the belts can without a doubt be a huge stepping stone for The Belle Saints.

Regardless of the outcome, Marti Belle and Tina San Antonio have all the ingredients to make it very far in the wrestling business. There is endless possibilities for The Belle Saints, who have been developing quite the following in recent months. If The Belle Saints continue in the path that they are on, they are sure to have Championship belts around their waists in the future.
