This year at WWE Money in the Bank, both the WWE Women’s Championship, and the WWE Divas Championship were defended.
Alicia Fox successfully defended her Divas Title against former Champion Eve Torres…
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Alicia Fox continued her streak of Divas Championship dominance over the Raw Divas at Money in the Bank by defeating her nemesis, the former title holder, Eve. The Foxy Floridian beat Eve for the second time in less than a month and continues to prove her “haters” wrong by maintaining strong momentum as the Divas Champion. (FULL WWE.COM RESULTS)
Layla on the other hand, successfully defended her title against Kelly Kelly…
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Despite a formidable offense, Kelly Kelly could not find a way to defeat Women’s Champion Layla. After withstanding Kelly’s best, Layla prevailed and rolled up Kelly for the victory.(FULL WWE.COM RESULTS)

Thought I’d start the MITB thread up. What’s everyones predictions, thoughts and feelings about the matches?
I can see both champions retaining. Hopefully Alicia will win cleanly to give her a bit more legitimacy as champion. Her and Eve seem to work OK together but the most I really expect of this match is alright at most.
The SD match to me is a lot more interesting. I think the outcome will definitely result in inteference by either Michelle or Rosa. It could be an important moment for Layla and Kelly -- Kelly to show she’s capable of lasting in a 4-5 min singles match and is justified in being pushed as top face and for Layla as well to see if she can make the transition into one of the proper wrestling divas and have a good first title defense.
I think the two matches could be fairly even in terms of quality and it is funny when you consider a year ago that probably none of these four would be considered as champions or to be in a singles PPV match. Hopefully we’ll get some nice Nattie and Tamina action.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Last year, Layla and Alicia Fox were Michelle’s lackeys, and today they’re the champs.
I actually think Kelly has a good chance of winning the women’s title. If not tonight, then soon. There are no other faces for LayCool to feud with and with all this talk about Aj Lee coming up to Smackdown as a heel, it would be logical for her to feud with Kelly.
With Alicia and Eve, I see it as 50/50… Why would they give Eve another title shot 2 weeks later at a PPV if she was not going to win? Still, it can go either way.
Both Layla and Alicia better retain. Alicia just got the belt and for Eve to win it back so soon is just stupid…..but WWE has done stupider things…. And Kelly……she just isn’t championship material….yet…..
Just saw two of the matches. Both girls HAVE retained. Alicia Fox vs. Eve Torres was decent w/ a dead crowd. Layla vs. Kelly Kelly was okay with a crowd that was more "alive". And considering Tiffany and Michelle were at ringside, they did their part to get involved instead of just standing there.
I thought the Sd match was really bad. Neither Layla or Kelly seemed to up their game as it was a PPV in fact I think they’ve both put on better performances on SD recently. There was too much going on at ringside as well especially from Michelle which detracted from the actual match.
I liked the Raw match. You can tell both Eve and Alicia are improving each time they get in the ring and the psychology was good with the targetting on the back which Eve sold well. Better than I thought.
Liked Maryse having her little moment in the spotlight in the Raw MITB match. Would have been a great time for Melina to return. Nice to see there’s a bit of focus on Nattie and Tamina. Still holding out for a singles match though.
I actually didn’t mind the SD match, although it was probably because I thought it could have been a lot worse with Kelly Kelly and fortunately she didn’t win. She should really just be a valet, I actually have more faith in Tiffany to put on a good match despite her lack of experience.
I really enjoyed the Raw match, I agree the psychology of it was really good and Eve really sold the back injury throughout. I definitely see Eve as one of the top women in the divison in a couple of years. She is improving quickly, she just needs to have more of a character…it’s a shame they don’t have a character like Jazz around because I think that type of character against Eve at the moment would gain her a lot of fans (like an early Trish/Jazz feud). Alicia’s backbreaker was amazing as well, watching that match I think she is probably the best person to have as champion right now.
Maryse’s part in the MITB match was great, it’s been so long since we’ve seen an active female valet in the main event matches…it’s awesome!
Raw is obviously the highlight right now. Smackdown really went down the tubes, which sucks because the women’s championship is there.
Layla Vs Kelly was just bad. Kelly sucks. I try to like her, but she just cannot wrestle. She is purely eye candy and a good tag team partner to hit spots.
I like Layla, but I don’t think her skills are too great. She shouldn’t be holding the title. She’s a great valet for Michelle, but Michelle should be the wrestling focus, without a doubt. Beth needs to come back and they need to get rid of Tiffany. Tiffany is decent, but she won’t propel the division in a better direction. Smackdown just needs a whole overhaul.
I like Eve Vs Alicia. Not memorable, but not bad. I really do dig Ms. Fox. It’s not to see an African American woman get such a good push that is not reminiscent of Jacqueline or Jazz.
I have not seen Maryses involvement, yet, but I really do hope that this sets up Melina’s return. It could really make both women bigger players. And we certainly need stars in the women’s divisions, right now.
Just watched it all again, not really that important but was Layla knocking Kelly into Michelle an accident? Because I could see how Layla wouldn’t have seen Michelle and they all seemed to just pretend that it didn’t happen.
Watching Miz’s promo with Maryse in the background also made me wish Maryse had been paired with The Miz
Yeah I know it makes more sense for Maryse to be paired with Ted, but I used to like her segments with The Miz…my favourite wrestler and favourite diva.
I’ve yet to see what Nattie and Tamina did…but it was a good night for the women, lots of ladies got to work.
I love Maryse, her future is very bright. Say what you want but I enjoy every aspect of her. I loved her getting involved in MITB, a bump would have been nice but oh well. Her timing was great, cool spot.
Layla vs Kelly was terribly dissappointing, especially since they’ve done better together in the past. Kelly-Kelly is just awful, she once seemed to have so much potential. Layla seemed off as well but not as uch. Still, I dig Layla, she’s at a respectable level but she isn’t experienced enough to carry herself and Kelly to something enjoyable. I like her getting a little shine instead of McCool though, I hope this angle is finished. I’m not sure where they’d go (McCool vs Layla?) but I’d like to see Layla work a title program with someone who can really get it done in the ring.
I loved Alicia vs Eve. Both girls worked really hard…we got some stiff shots, good bumps, a story was told, I liked it. Not the cleanest wrestling we’ve seen but it was good. WWE seems to have finally figured out the program…i enjoyed this match so much more than the Candice vs Beth series where Beth did all the work but I’m getting off topic. The back work was unexpected and a nice touch, kodus to both ladies. The titl-a-whirl back breaker was sick, Eve landed a few solid kicks/knees as well. The ending was awesome too. While I would much rather see Gail or Maryse feud with Alicia, I wouldn’t mind it if this thing with Eve went on a while.

It is just that, The Miz does not need a valet. He is amazing on his own. Ted DiBiase on the other hand actually needs Maryse.
