On the July 5, 2010 edition of Raw, WWE Divas Champion Alicia Fox successfully defended her title against Eve Torres.
WWE Divas – July 5, 2010 Raw Match:
WWE Divas Championship Alicia Fox(c) vs. Eve
—Alicia Fox was in the ring first for this match, followed by a recap of her winning the Championship at WWE Fatal 4Way. Her challenger Eve Torres then made her way to the ring. The ladies began with a collar-and-elbow tie up, followed by a forearm from Alicia to Eve.
Alicia whipped Eve into the ropes, and she came back with her arsenal of offense, which got her a 2-count. After throwing Alicia hard across the ring, it seemed like Alicia injured her ankle. Eve was then the victim of a knee to the face, followed by Alicia’s axe kick—which got her the win.
Winner(s): Alicia Fox at 1:24
Thoughts: This was not much of a match; however, it told a story, coupled with Alicia’s backstage promo, which gave us more isight into her character. She also managed to get some heat when faking the ankle injury, which is a good sign.
—Also on Raw, was Tamina cutting a backstage promo with the USOs, and Maryse accompanying Ted DiBiase during his match against John Morrison.

Nice to see Maryse, Tamina and Alicia all get mic time. I didn’t actually mind the match being short as it furthered the character development of Alicia which I think is more important for her now, as it’s only when people start to care about her, that they’ll get into her matches and that the matches will have a story behind them.
Maryse was gold tonight and seems really comfortable in her role.Eve showed a bit more aggression which was good but no Natalya
No Natalya but a good night for the ladies none the less. Maryse and Tamina didn’t do much, but nice to see both girls get some mic time, A. Fox too.
Eve is good looking but her style is questionable lol I either love or hate her wreswtling gear, last night was the latter. Alicia looked great as usual. I liked the match, short but sweet. Told a story, developed character and pretty much killed Alicia vs Eve. Sick axe kick and I liked how Alicia was gloating after her victory. Enter Gail Kim next week and we’re good to go.
That’s a good possibility… Outside of Eve, Gail Kim is the only face competition for Alicia. However, Gail Kim is a lost cause at this point. She is there to enhance the other girls… in this case, a successful title defense… it is really sad to see Gail’s talent not being utilized.
I’m still not sure WWE is content with taking Gail the Jillian/Molly route just yet. I’m not holding my breath but I think it’s still possible for Gail to be a major player. Natalya is gonna get worked into the title picture at some point and while I’d love to see her and Alicia lock up again, I’m dying to see Natalya vs Gail.

I agree. I think she’s too valuable to waist regardless of past grudges(if there are any) and she’s also quite simply the shit IMO and hopefully yours..and I wont be happy with a throwaway title reign. She needs a shot at being the top face with a division of women who can hang. A lengthy feud between she and Alicia would be a great start.
A feud with she and Natalya would rock and I have a feeling they’re grooming Tamina to be their own Kong so if they build Gail up a year and train the hell out of Tamina they could have a money feud on their hands.

She is indeed though been given a physical presence that we need to see with the Divas. Like with Beth Phoenix. With women like Beth, Natalya, McCool, Gail, Serena, Melina, and Tamina, there is actually realistic competition for Kong.
