In Knockouts action this year at Destination X, Tara successfully defended her TNA Women’s Knockout Championship against Daffney, in the best match we have seen from the knockouts since Sarita & Taylor Wilde vs. Kong and Hamada.
TNA Knockouts – Destination X 2010 Match:
TNA Women’s Knockout Championship
Tara (c) vs. Daffney
— The Knockouts title match was the 2nd match on the card, with a “tale of the tape” before the match. Daffney made her way to the ring first, followed by TNA Women’s Knockout Champion Tara, with her pet spider Poison.
Tara went after Daffney with forearms right away; however, Daffney came back at her with strikes. Tara bounced off the ropes getting a shoulder block in, followed by a body slam. Tara then hit her standing moonsault for a cover. Daffney was able to gain control of the match after throwing Tara face first into a corner turnbuckle. She then came off the top ropes stomping unto Tara’s back, which looked brutal!. Daffney took Tara apart in the moments that followed, as the crowd got behind Tara. Tara got her tarantula submission on Daffney briefly, when she moved out of the way of an attempted move. After she broke the hold, Daffney took advantage by flipping her into the ring, and continued to control with offense. At this point we saw one of the most unorthodox submission by Daffney. Tara was able to break free of the submission, and hit an enziguri. The ladies then went back and fort to numerous near falls. A frustrated Daffney then took the fight outside, slamming Tara into the guard rails. Back in the ring, her underhand tactics failed, and she got pinned after Tara hit her widow’s peak.
Winner: Tara at 6:47 approximately
After the match, Daffney kidnapped Tara’s pet spider Poison.
This was a great night for the Knockouts, who put on a nice match, with a lot of interesting offense from Daffney. Thankfully it was given some time, and served as a point to escalate their feud.
