WWE Divas – Superstars (3/18) & Smackdown (3/19) report: LayCool vs. Beth Phoenix and Tiffany, The Bella Twins and more

The Bella Twins vs Jillian & Katie Lea

This week’s WWE Divas action ended with two tag-team matches…On WWE Superstars, The Bella Twins took on Jillian and Katie Lea, and on Smackdown, “Simply Flawless” Michelle McCool & Layla faced “The Glamazon” Beth Phoenix and former General Manager of ECW Tiffany.

WWE Divas – March 18, 2010 Superstars Match:
The Bella Twins vs. Jillian & Katie Lea

—Jillian and Katie Lea made their way to the ring first, as Jerry Lawler and Micheal Cole were shown doing commentary. Katie Lea then got on the mic, predicting that she and Jillian were going to beat The Bella Twins. Jillian then grabbed the mic, and serenaded the arena with her singing, to nice heat. The Bella Twins music then hit, and they made their way to the ring.

The match started with The Bella Twins besting Katie Lea and Jillian; however, not one-sided by any means. Mid-match, Jillian was able to get an electric chair drop on Brie, which turned the match in her teams favor. The ladies proceeded by cutting Brie from Nikki…typical tag team psychology before Nikki got the hot tag and cleaned house. The finish came when Nikki countered a face-buster from Jillian, and followed by rolling her up.

Winner(s): The Bella Twins at 4:42

This was a pretty good match for what it was. Like most WWE Superstars matches, we got to see what the Raw Divas are capable of. The Bella Twins continue to look better and better every time they get in the ring.

WWE Divas – March 19, 2010 Smackdown Match:
Michelle McCool & Layla vs. Beth Phoenix & Tiffany

Beth Phoenix—On Smackdown, Michelle McCool and Layla were shown backstage making their way to the ring for their match. The “Smack of the night” was then shown, which was Beth Phoenix making the save for Tiffany (WWE Divas – March 12, 2010 Smackdown report). Lay-Cool made their entrance first, followed by Beth Phoenix and Tiffany.

The match started with Beth Phoenix decimating Layla, followed by a tag to Tiffany, who followed with offense over Layla. After outside interference from Michelle McCool, the match turned in their favor, and Michelle went to town on Tiffany. After McCool missed a leg drop, Beth was tagged in, and destroyed McCool. Interference from Layla was not enough, and McCool fell victim to the Glam Slam.

Winner(s): Beth Phoenix & Tiffany at 3:37

After the match, Vickie Guerrero came out to the ring, demanding an apology from Beth Phoenix. She went on to say that none of her apologies were good enough, and she would regret the day she put her hands on her. She then told Beth that she would be facing her next week on Smackdown.

Very nice continuity here, and a reason to look forward to next week’s show. Another thumbs up for Smackdown.

Smackdown was probably my favourite women action this week. Tiffany is still keeping it simple but showing a lot of aggression as well. Being new, it makes more sense with her tagging with Beth, than if Beth started showing up with Maria .

Can’t wait for a one on one match between Beth and Michelle. The two of them could put on a really great match . However far fetched , I’d love it if Kong came out next week to knock out Beth in her match against Vickie.

If SD was the best, that says how bad the rest was. Asking for an apology, & then claiming no apologies is/are good enough? Make up your mind, & do it off-camera.

The only reason to watch Vickie in the match next week is if it will be like Cena’s on Raw, a gauntlet match, allowing all the fans that want to the ability to beat Vickie up as well.
