WSU Awesome Challenge was taped on December 12, 2009, and set the stage for a great 2010 in Women Superstars Uncensored. The DVD included the debut of former WWE Women’s champion Jazz, who was victorious in her debut match against former ECW rival Angel Orsini. The show also crowned a new WSU Spirit champion as Alicia, who defeated her former tag-team partner Brittney Savage. This was historic, as Alicia became the first-ever WSU triple crown champion. TNA Knockouts Awesome Kong and Angelina Love also wrestled on the show, with Awesome Kong wrestling an excellent main event against WSU champion Mercedes Martinez.
Match Number 1: Nikki Roxx vs Cindy Rogers
—The DVD began with a backstage promo from Cindy Rogers, followed by her entrance in which she was introduced by Destiny. Co-ring announcer Socal Val then introduced “TNA Knockout” Nikki Roxx. We last saw Cindy on WSU “Raining Misery,” where she picked up a big victory over Sassy Stephie. The victory came after suffering losses to Amber O’Neal, Malia Hosaka and a tag-team loss against Jessicka Havok and Hailey Hatred prior to WSU “Raining Misery.” A win over Nikki Roxx (a former WSU Champion), would have solidify a comeback, however, this did not come to fruition.
This match, like most of the matches we’ve seen from Cindy in WSU, saw her and Nikki start off mat-based. After Cindy’s technical prowess got the better of Nikki, she she resorted to dirty tactics, and her signature brawling style infused with power. Towards the end of the match, Cindy’s technical savvy was out the window. Her effort proved to be in vain though, as Nikki inevitably hit her Barbie Crusher for the win.
Winner: Nikki Roxx at 12:05
This was one of those matches that was interesting to watch, because of the opposite styles of both women. Watching this match may be a bit jarring, as Roxxi is a heel in WSU, and the less-known Cindy Rogers a babyface in the match.
After the match, Cindy Rogers cut another promo, saying that her loosing streak will be ending at WSU’s 3rd anniversary show.
Brittney Savage—accompanied by her manager Rick Cataldo—then cut a promo on their match against Alicia and Luscious Latasha. Jana—Brittney’s tag-team partner for the match—then interrupted, telling her that she needed to follow her lead to win the match. An Alicia promo followed, saying that Luscious Latasha was “ill”. Instead, she challenged Brittney Savage for a one-on-one match, for the WSU Spirit Championship.
Match Number 2: WSU Spirit Championship Match Brittney Savage(c) vs Alicia
—Brittney Savage, Rick Cataldo and Jana then made their way to the ring. Brittney Savage and Rick Cataldo got on the microphone, saying that the match would be a handicap match. Alicia then made her entrance, saying that Latasha was on her way to the hospital after being attacked by Jana. A bit of a mix up in continuity from the backstage promo, however, Alicia’s request for a Spirit title match was granted. NWS commissioner Gino Moore made the match official. This was a great set up for the match.
The match began with hard forearms from Alicia, followed by a snapmare, and a drop kick to the back. After controlling the beginning of the match, Brittney took control after moving out of the way of a running big boot. She then took the match to the outside, taking advantage of Alicia’s mishap. Back in the ring, Alicia struggled to regain control until hitting a Russian leg sweep. With Alicia, the bigger of the two back on her feet, the end was near. She hit her A–Bomb for the win. Alicia made history, becoming the first ever WSU triple crown winner!
Winner: Alicia at 5:44
With the promo before, the match length was what it needed to be. Brittney Savage’s control during the match was done really well, considering that she was the smaller and less-experienced of the two. Also, the set up gave the crowd more of a reason to get into the match, as opposed to the opening match. This was very good resolution to Brittney’s Savage’s betrayal on her former tag-team partner Alicia (WSU Excellence). The celebration however, was cut short, as Brittney, Rick Cataldo and Jana attacked Alicia after the match. Jennifer Cruz then ran to the ring with a chair, making the save. Commissioner Gino Moore returned to ringside, booking Rick Cataldo and Jana vs. Jennifer Cruz and a partner of her choosing. He then officially awarded Alicia with the WSU Spirit Title.
Up next, was a promo from former 2-time WWE Women’s Champion Jazz, talking about her past with Angel Orsini.
Match Number 3: Jazz vs. Angel Orsini
This was a “battle of the former ECW stars,” with Angel Orsini, who went by “Prodigette” in ECW, making her way to the ring first. Jazz then made her way to the ring next. This started amicably, with a collar-and-elbow tie, which was broken, and followed by another. The ladies started with reversals, favoring their technical skill set. Here we saw some vintage Jazz. Angel then decided to focus on Jazz’s left leg, however Jazz returned the favor, working on Orsini’s leg instead. Angel managed to have total control going into the 6-minute mark, after Jazz was taken out of her element with two submissions. Jazz was able to regain control towards the 8-minute mark after a sleeper on Angel. The remainder of the match was pretty back and fort, with even more psychology, as Angel began going after Jazz’s left arm. This match comprised of the two most evenly matched wrestlers on the show. This was a real wrestling match, without the glitz and glamor of flashy moves. By the end, this was stiff!, as was expected from these two. At 14:20, Jazz went for a superkick on Angel, however, she took out the referee instead. Angel followed by hitting her Flatliner finisher, however, the referee was unconscious. Nikki Roxx then got into the ring, hitting Angel with the barbie crusher. She then pulled Jazz over Angel, and the referee made the 3-count.
Winner: Jazz at 15:09
The announcers did a good job at making note that Jazz would not have want to win a match like this. However, the booking was understandable, as Angel is one-half of the WSU tag team champions, and has been a WSU main eventer for 2-years. This was a very good match, although Jazz was visible not in the shape she use to be. Despite her loss of muscle mass, she still worked a great match.
Jazz who was unaware of Nikki’s interference, was told of the incident after the match, and she hugged Angel. They were both visible disappointed.
Angel Orsini then cut a backstage promo on the incident. This set up Angel Orsini vs. Nikki Roxx at WSU’s 3rd anniversary show. Amber O’Neal was then seen in the bathroom getting ready for her match. She said that she was going to get her 5th win in the promotion against Sumie Sakai. Sumie then cut a promo in Japanese.
Match Number 4: Amber O’Neal vs. Sumie Sakai
—Amber O’Neal made her way to the ring first, followed by Sumie Sakai. In true Amber fashion, there was stalling from Amber after the bell rang. Sumie would have none of it, and went after Amber with move after move. Amber took control after pulling Sumie off the top ropes as she attempted a move. Amber showed smarts in this match, keeping Sumie off her feet with overpowering and submissions. It was awesome to see Amber go after her much smaller opponent with confidence, and not play chicken-shit heel like she usually does. Sumie had a nice comeback towards the end of the match, however, after a rake to her eyes, Amber was able to execute her Amber alter finisher.
Winner: Amber O’Neal at 10:02 with the “Amber alert
After the match, Jazz challenged Amber to a match,

Next was Jennifer Cruz promo, saying that she found a “beautiful” tag team partner.
Match Number 5: Angelina Love & Jennifer Cruz vs Rick Cataldo & Jana
—Jana and Rick Cataldo made their way to the ring first, followed by Jennifer Cruz. Jennifer Cruz then introduced Angelina Love. Angelina and Rick started this match, there was 2 minutes of stalling as they worked the audience. Rick began with shoving Angelina, who responded with a slap to Rick’s face. She out-wrestled Rick, and then tagged in Jennifer Cruz. Rick tagged out, and Jana and Cruz then mixed it up. After a few tag exchanges between Rick and Jana, Jennifer Cruz was in need of a tag. Angelina got the hot tag, and she cleaned house. After she got some offense, she tagged Cruz back in, and they performed a double suplex on Rick. Moments after, Jennifer hit her discus elbow smash for the win.
Winner: Angelina Love & Jennifer Cruz at 8:32
Up next was a promo from Mercedes Martinez.
Match Number 6: WSU Championship Match Mercedes Martinez(c) vs. Awesome Kong
—Awesome Kong was out first for the match, followed by WSU Champion Mercedes Martinez. Kong went after Mercedes right away, however, she ducked, and followed with vicious forearms. After being shoved to the mat, she got up immediately, and continued with her forearm smashes. This match went on to deliver match of the night, as would be expected from these two. After numerous near falls, Mercedes pulled of a surprise fisherman buster on Kong for the win.
Winner: Mercedes Martinez at 9:52
After the match, Nikki Roxx and Amber O’Neal attacked Mercedes Martinez. Jazz and Angel attempted to help, however, Amber kept them out of the ring by wielding a steal chair. Nikki told Kong to finish the job, however, she instead retaliated against Nikki. To end the show, Mercedes, Jazz, Angel Orsini, and Awesome Kong celebrated in the ring, in one of the top moments in WSU history.
Jazz and Amber cut promos for their match at the end of the DVD.
Match Of The DVD:Mercedes Martinez vs. Awesome Kong
The main event delivered in the way a main event should. This was hard-hitting, and excellently executed wrestling by two of wrestling’s most skilled female athletes.
