TNA Knockouts - January 4, 2010 Impact Report ODB regains the women's title, Hamada & Awesome Kong become women's tag team champions

January 4, 2010, on the historic live 3-hour Impact going up against WWE Raw, both the TNA Women’s Knockout Championship and TNA Knockout Tag Team Championship changed hands.

TNA Women’s Knockout Championship
Tara(c) vs. ODB

—In the shocker of the night, ODB defeated Tara, to become a 3-time TNA Knockout Champ. Definitely a disappointing turn of events for Tara fans, with her now having two title reigns that lasted less than a month. In this scenario, ODB cheated to get the win by a roll-up using Tara’s tights for leverage.

While the loss may seen anticlimactic for Tara, it isn’t really the case for ODB, who wrestling three matches on New Year’s Knockout Eve, to gain the title shot. Though a two minute match was a bit of an insult to the great matches she put on with Hamada and Roxxi last week. Overall, the action we did see between these two, was done well, with great crowd reaction.

Winner(s): ODB at 2:22

After the match, Tara hit ODB with the widow’s peak.

TNA Knockout Tag Team Championship
Sarita & Taylor Wilde(c) vs. Awesome Kong & Hamada

—Awesome Kong and Hamada made their way to the ring first for this bout, followed by the champions. The action started off with Hamada and Sarita, in which both ladies having some nice exchanges to “you’re all awesome” (Indeed) and “Hamada” chants. After a float-over DDT on Hamada, Sarita tagged in Taylor, who hit an arm drag Hamada from coming off the top ropes. Soon Taylor Wilde was on the defense, and tagged Sarita. They were then the recipients of a double springboard arm drag by Hamada. Kong was tagged into the match, missing a double clothesline; however, she got a big boot to Taylor, and Samoan drop to Sarita (Which looked devastating). Hamada then went charging at Taylor, who propelled her over the tops ropes unto the apron. She then kicked Hamada in the head and she retreated to ringside. Taylor then began to attack Kong with dropkicks. A Double dropkick by both Taylor and Sarita then got the job done, sending Kong outside the ring. Taylor Wilde then climbed the top rope hitting Kong with a crossbody to the outside, as Sarita hit a suicide dive on Hamada. The show then went to commercial break.

Back from the break, highlights were shown of what happened during the commercial break. Hamada and Kong were now in control, with Taylor in desperate need of a tag to Sarita. Taylor finally tagged Sarita after hitting a jaw breaker on Kong. Sarita then sent Kong flying with a springboard drop kick. Sarita’s momentum was slowed down by a vicious kick from Hamada, who seemed to have injured her leg at some point during the match. Some miscommunication followed; however, it did not take away from the phenomenal action from the ladies.

The end came with Hamada taking Taylor out of the match by throwing her into one of the steal posts (awch). Hamada then missile drop kicked Sarita into a powerbomb from Awesome Kong for the win.

Excellent match! with great emotion from Kong and Hamada after the win.

Winner(s): Awesome Kong & Hamada

Also on the show, was The Beautiful People in strip poker backstage segments, and amazing in-ring and backstage promo work by Kristal Marshal.
