THE RUNDOWN!: Injured WWE Divas, Traci Brooks Playboy Preview, Analyzing PWI’s Female 50, Jenna Morasca Speaks AND MORE

—This week seemed like a great time to write a new “Rundown,” after months of hiatus. So much is currently going on, or has happened in the last couple of weeks in women’s wrestling. From Angelina Love’s shocking release just days from crowning the first ever TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions, to Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s 2009 Top 50 Female Wrestlers list being revealed.

—Lethalwow.com finally has a Twitter (http://twitter.com/lethalwow). I am not entirely familiar with how to utilize that social network as of yet, so only time will tell. Send tips my way.

—Up and coming wrestler Brittany Force has a new Q&A up on the site. Click Here To Read The Interview. Brittany will no doubt be a candidate for wrestlingclothesline.com’s Top50 Women in 2009 and pro wrestling illustrated Top 50 Female Wrestlers 2010 List. Speaking of PWI, let us analyze the list this year…

“PWI Female 50″ Rankings
1. Mickie James
2. Angelina Love
3. Melina
4. MsChif
5. Tara
6. Awesome Kong
7. Beth Phoenix
8. Michelle McCool
9. Maryse
10. Taylor Wilde

Let us cut PWI some slack here, this is only the second time the female 50 has been published. Under those circumstances, pretty good Top 50 overall. Last year, they published a very credible Top 5 (1-Awesome Kong; 2-Beth Phoenix; 3-Gail Kim; 4-Mickie James; and 5-MsChif). This is where they failed this year, in thier Top 5. Mickie James being ranked #1 lost the list major credibility. Why is that?…

Just based exclusively in the WWE, Mickie James should not have been ranked #1. Melina and Michelle McCool surpassed Mickie in their work rate and push. Michelle McCool, like her or not, even minus the rumored favoritism of her within the company, should have been ranked higher than #7, and certainly above Mickie James. Melina and McCool without a figment of doubt, are the only two contenders as WWE Female wrestler of the year. Mickie on the other hand, a not-so-close 3rd.

On the TNA side of things, Tara should not have been ranked higher than Awesome Kong. While Awesome Kong has had a less significant year in 2009 than she did in 2008 in TNA, a combination of TNA, Shimmer and her Indy work outweighs both Tara and Angelina Love’s contributions.

—Sadly, Angelina Love’s future is up in the air. Her release from TNA, was one of, if not the most shocking moment this year thus far. I am honestly disappointed, as I believe that Angelina Love was about to make history. Before her release, The Beautiful People (Angelina Love & Velvet Sky) were scheduled to wrestle Sarita & Taylor Wilde, to crown the first ever TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions. The Beautiful People have been the most visible female tag team in TNA for two years, and being booked in the finals of the Knockouts Tag Team Tournament was fitting. Very sad indeed.

Jenna Morasca finally broke her silence on her release from TNA… In an interview for The sun (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/wrestling/2635183/Jenna-Morasca-What-really-happened-in-TNA-Wrestling.html), she revealed how her release from the company went down from her perspective. While many veteran fans of women’s wrestling were saying good riddance when the news broke of her release, the article is quite endearing. Here are some interesting quotes…

“I went on TNA to prove myself, but I feel like I was used as a gimmick and then when that was over they discarded me.”

“That was very hurtful, considering everything I’d given in working hard for them and really getting to know this sport.”

“And the truth is that I took two days off out of all the time of working with them to be with my boyfriend as he had surgery because of his cancer, and they fired me the night before his surgery.”

“That’s honestly the truth and if they didn’t want that to be the truth then maybe they should have waited a couple of days.”

“There was also a rumor that I left to another Survivor, which is obviously not true as I’m here talking to you.”

“I was just really really shocked as I gave them everything I had.”

“I feel so hurt.”

As for her match against Sharmell at Victory Road, she had the following to say…“I was really concerned as I didn’t want to make a mockery of the sport or make it look like anybody could do it, as that’s not the case.” Fair enough…At least she attempted to save some face, after continuously being ripped apart on the internet.

—”TNA wrestler Traci Brooks gets naked for Playboy!”… as has been reported for numerous weeks. Playboy.com now has a preview video up…(http://www.playboy.com/traci). Traci looked better than expected in the video, so the photos should be decent. Traci not getting to be in the actual magazine is a double edged sword. It sucks that TNA’s avenue to promote themselves fell through, however, it may be a saving grace of keeping credibility in the Knockouts Division, and not having them go the WWE Divas route.

Michelle McCool addressed her rumored injury (not so much a rumor), on her latest WWE blog (http://fans.wwe.com/michellemccool/blog/2009/09/10/twitter_temporarily_took_over)…

Injury update: I’ve received lots of questions/concerns about my knee injury. Yes, I did receive a legit knee injury. I actually tore the corner of my PCL and the band that runs across my meniscus that holds the knee capsule together and bruised the bone pretty badly (which hurts way worse than it sounds)….good times!:) Just joking…not good times – at all! In fact, it down right stinks! It’s still pretty sore, but I have been able to test it back out in the ring as of late! I’ll be 100% before you know it….and cannot wait!!!

Kelly Kelly and Mickie James injury rumors have also been going around in the last couple. PWInsider.com reported that Mickie missed last week’s Raw, and house shows, due to a ruptured implant, that has already reported to have been corrected. Kelly Kelly on the other hand, has been reported to be working with an injured knee.
